At San Diego Compassionate Care, we know that our clients’ well-being depends on the exceptional individuals who walk through their doors every day. Today, we are thrilled to shine our Caregiver Spotlight on Berenyce Salgado, a dedicated professional whose lifelong commitment to helping others makes a profound impact on our community.

A Lifelong Calling to Serve

For Berenyce, caregiving isn’t just a career path; it is a calling rooted deeply in her upbringing. “I was inspired to become a caregiver because I’ve always had a natural desire to help others and make a meaningful difference,” she shares.

Her passion for senior care began close to home. Growing up, she loved helping the elders at her church, sharing meals with them, and providing comforting company. Berenyce credits her parents for instilling this deep sense of empathy in her. “Being compassionate about others even outside of my job brings me comfort, and it feels really rewarding. What I do, I do with love towards my community.”

Growth Through Compassion

The caregiving journey is one of continuous personal growth. When asked what she has learned about herself since joining the profession, Berenyce points to her emotional resilience.

“Through caregiving, I’ve learned that I am more patient and compassionate than I realized,” she notes. The daily responsibilities of caregiving have taught her how to adapt to new situations, stay calm under pressure, and, most importantly, truly listen and connect with her clients on a deeper level.

Finding the Silver Lining on Tough Days

Caregiving is incredibly rewarding, but it can also be demanding. To stay positive and motivated, Berenyce focuses on the micro-moments of joy. By practicing gratitude and building meaningful relationships with her clients, she keeps her spirits high.

“I stay positive by focusing on the impact I’m making each day, even in small ways,” she explains. “Just seeing a smile on their faces makes me feel like I am making an impact.”

Beyond the Uniform: Culture and Equestrian Life

When she isn’t bringing smiles to her clients’ faces, Berenyce leads a vibrant and active life deeply connected to her heritage. Since the age of five, she has been an avid Aztec dancer! “I love doing this because it is a way for me to connect to my culture and express myself,” she says.

In addition to dancing, Berenyce is a passionate equestrian and loves spending her free time horseback riding with her female horse, Luna.

We are incredibly grateful to have Berenyce’s warmth, patience, and vibrant spirit on the San Diego Compassionate Care team. Her dedication to serving with love is exactly what makes our care community so special.
